Hot on the heels of their debut single – Am I Wasting My Time – Melbourne outfit The Sea Birds have announced some special hometown shows to share music from their forthcoming album release. This impressive five-piece may have just arrived on the local scene, but they have been working away in the background since 2014, drawing inspiration for their sound and penning catchy indie pop tunes.
“There will be two sets at each show including loads of new material, as well as the odd cover of some of our favourite artists inserted into the sets,” says primary songwriter Mike Amarant. “The key to a good show is playing tight, but loose, and then translating this energy to the audience. Our songs are introspective but our shows are far more extroverted and anything can happen, including reggae, or French Mauritian interpretations of our own work or other artists. It can be loose, tight, melodic and social all within a bar of music.”
