Cass are a duo composed of Cassie Ward (guitar/vocals) and Bianca Maes (electric guitar/drums/vocals). The pair have been creating wholesome, melancholic tunes for the past five years and regularly engage in live performances. Cassie´s hypnotic tones combined with Bianca´s rich guitar melodies are a drawcard for the audiences of live shows who become entranced by their music.
Musically, the pair draws inspiration from artists such as Feist, Kate Miller-Heidke, City and Colour, Lanie Lane, Marlon Williams, Lykke Li and Joni Mitchell. Lyrically, the songs are influenced by life´s challenges and society´s downfalls.
Cass originated in order to compete in a local Battle of the Bands competition which, upon winning, led them to performing at the 2011 Pushover festival. Since then, Cass have performed at a variety of venues across Victoria including The Drunken Poet, The Wesley Anne, The Fox Hotel, Billy Roy´s Blues Bar and annually at the Bendigo Blues & Roots Festival for the past three years. In 2010 Cass recorded their first EP “Hard for us” and in 2012 released the four track EP “Run”, which received airplay on Triple J Unearthed and Northern Victoria Local ABC Radio. Cassie and Bianca combine their talents to provide a soulful musical experience. As they grow together their music will also flourish into new and exciting material.
