With the release of four highly acclaimed and award-winning albums over the past decade, Sydney singer-songwriter Perry Keyes makes his Wesley Anne debut on Saturday July 23rd.
Keyes will be playing in stripped back mode - debuting songs from his upcoming fifth release as well as songs from all four albums.
Whether it’s the ‘love among the ruins’ approach of his first album, Meter (2005); the portrayal of the disappearing inner-city working class community on The Last Ghost Train Home (2007); the songs of volatile adolescence on Johnny Ray’s Downtown (2010); or characters coming to terms with the geographic dislocation and subsequent social exclusion of Sunnyholt (2015), Keyes’ song-writing maintains a capacity for cinematic sweep whilst at the same time exhibiting intimate and detailed storytelling.
It’s a rare chance to witness a bare bones approach to presenting his compelling songs and stories from the heart of the inner-city.
