DMF '16: MELBOURNE UKULELE FESTIVAL '16

$20 full / $15 conc - Band Room

8.00pm: Cat House - A burlesque-tinged bevy of ukulele ladies with a sassy repertoire of great rhythms and sweet harmonies. From Dusty to Kylie, Soft Cell to Sade, Violent Femmes to Lorde, these Melbourne-based felines aim to sound purr-fect. Call them to strut their stuff on your stage - here kitty, kitty!

8.40pm: Jane Cameron - Jane Cameron & the Crazy Carnival are set to seduce you with their smooth nuevo-folk! Jane's sultry tones slide under your skin and lace themselves round your heart as the rhythms of the Crazy Carnival rise through your bones and set your feet tapping and your hips shaking. Blending folk, blues and jazz influences, they create their own unique sound that is as captivating as it is hard to categorise.

9.20pm: Bosko and Honey - Don't be fooled by Bosko and Honey's cute and quirky appearance… this all-original, virtuosic and genre-defying duo has travelled the globe and is something to behold - Bosko & Honey will warm your heart, make you laugh… and shock you to the core!

10.10pm: Nico’o and the Kapiolani Boyz - The MUF is delighted to finish off the festival with the return of the wonderful Nico'o. Nico’o comes From the Basque region of France and discovered the ukulele on a trip to Tahiti in 2000. Instantly enchanted by its sound, it wasn’t long before he posted his unique uke rendition of Stairway to Heaven on the internet and started getting noticed. Invitations to play at festivals around the world began to arrive, first New York and then Hawaii, where he was the first European to be invited to play at the Honolulu Festival. He’s since visited Japan, Australia and Finland, meeting great critical acclaim wherever he goes.

Together with the Kapiolani Boyz, he creates magical Hawaiian sounds, combining folk, reggae and jazz manouche in a sumptuous blend which will charm your senses. Get ready to be charmed…
