John Flanagan Trio launch their new single ‘Beauty On The Bottom’, the first release from their forthcoming album. Fast becoming a favourite on the Australian Folk Festival circuit, the John Flanagan Trio somehow manages to transcend the sum of its impressive parts. John Flanagan’s engaging storytelling, uplifting melodies and warm vocal timbre have seen him draw comparisons to James Taylor and Paul Kelly and described as “one of Australia’s finest lyricists” (Timber and Steel); Liz Frencham has a remarkable stage presence and creativity in her double bass playing and has played alongside artists of international renown; Dan Watkins is recognised as one of the finest young bluegrass pickers in the country on guitar and mandolin. Together they combine 70s folk singer-songwriter influences with a contemporary Americana/bluegrass sound. In 2016 John released his latest album 'There's Another Way to Where You're Going' which was recorded in Nashville with producer Viktor Krauss and was nominated for best Folk/Roots Album in the Age Music Victoria Awards. With tight arrangements and soaring 3-part harmonies they deliver a dynamic and energetic live show that can vary from humorous and uplifting to moving and thoughtful. Opening the show will be soulful young singer/songwriter Graciana Holland.
