Featuring and Introducing Joel Deane as the 2018 International Poetry Competition Judge- Joel Deane is a poet, novelist, speechwriter and journalist. He has published six books, including three collections of poetry. His most recent collection of poetry, Year of the Wasp (Hunter, 2016), was a finalist for the Prime Minister’s Literary Award and the Queensland and South Australia Premiers’ Literary Awards. Year of the Wasp also won the Vincent Buckley Poetry Prize, enabling Joel to spend February and March touring Ireland and Northern Ireland. He is currently working on his third novel.

AND a feature performance by Dorothy Poulopoulos - an award-winning Melbourne-born poet whose writing delves into love, death and identity. She writes in both English and Greek. Dorothy is the author of A Brushstroke of The Soul, a collection of 70 poems in Greek and The Art of Finding, a chapbook of poems in English, by Owl Publishing. Dorothy will be presenting poems from The Art of Finding and a future collection at The Wesley Anne. The Art of Finding is hot off the press and will be available for sale on the night.
