The Djangologists

Front Bar // Free

he Djangologists were formed in 2014 by Chris Higgins and Hamish Reid. They are a quintet that performs music inspired by Django Reinhardt while adding heir own twist! (clarinet/saxophone, trombone, 2x guitar, double bass).

The band have performed throughout NSW and interstate, supporting some of the best local acts including Cameron Jones, Gadjo Guitars and The Gypsy Jazz Project (ACT). They have also appeared at several festivals including the Manly Jazz Festival, Newcastle Jazz Festival and The Entrance Winter Blues & Jazz Festival.

The Djangologists have had recordings played on Eastside Radio and Fine Music. They have performed live for The Gypsy Hot Club program hosted by Justine D’odd on Eastside Radio and in 2019 Fine Music will broadcast a live set on The Australian Jazz Scene program recorded at Johnston Street Jazz by Peter Nelson.

2019 will also see the release of The Djangologists’ debut album! When The Djangologists perform you'll hear blistering fast tunes to velvety ballads and everything in between. They’re always having fun on stage and want the audience to be a part of the experience. Whether you dance, sing or just smile it doesn’t matter!
