Providence & Không Nói Quartet

Band Room // $10

1st set:

Không Nói Quartet Formed by vocalist and Dan Tranh player Maggie Mai, the Không Nói Quartet blurs the lines between old and new by adding a contemporary personality to the traditional folk music of Vietnam. They hope that their music will be a thought provoking and deeply authentic experience that is not constrained by the borders of genre, rather, is given life by the act of bringing together sounds and stories from different parts of our world. Cello/ Looping: Ceridwen McCooey Trombone: Callum Mintzis Piano: Jobey Joh Vocals/ Dan Tranh: Maggie Mai

2nd set:

Providence Providence is a new quintet formed by Canberra born Melbourne based saxophonist Angus Davison. The band performs primarily original material with a focus on interplay and melody. The unconventional front line of two saxophones allows for a homogeneous sound rarely featured outside a larger ensemble. Expect beautiful new music as well as tender explorations of beloved classics. Alto saxophone: Thomas Colemanbell Tenor saxophone: Angus Davison Piano: Jake Amy Bass: Blakely Mclean Davies Drums: Albert Rolfe
