Gallie

Band Room // $25

After an epic year of touring the world with shows in France, Brazil, Ireland, Australia, Spain and England, Gallie returns to Australia to play The Wesley Anne in February 2020. Since the release of his debut album ‘The Occoquan River’ Gallie has been going from strength to strength, playing sold out shows in his adopted home of Australia and all across Europe.

In November 2018 Gallie headlined the Folk stage at Brazil’s largest Blues and Roots festival “MDBF”. He returned again November 2019 to play with The Caxias’ Symphonic Orcestra, a forty piece orchestra that put arrangements to his songs before returning to the MDB Festival to headline the folk stage again. He returns to Australia in 2020 to record his eagerly awaited follow up to ‘The occoquan river’. If you haven't heard of Gallie until now you're in for a real musical awakening.... If you like artists like Ray Lamontagne , Tom Waits, John Martyn or Wilco, then it is time to embrace the musical talents of Gallie. With his amazing debut album the Occoquan River, Gallie has a remarkable talent of imagery that can transport you from the bloody battlefields of the American Civil War to the soft comfort of your lovers bed within the length of one tune. Gallie's shows are like no other, he has the capacity to reach a large audience on a one to one level and make a large room seem like a small venue, due to the warmth that he brings through his songs and story telling.

The stories are sometimes comical, sometimes tragic but the delivery is always from the heart. His songwriting speaks for itself with critics hailing his album 'The Occoquan River' in their top albums of the year. Gallie has been drawing large crowds to his gigs over the last year and has been a favourite at a number of festivals including MDBF (Caxias Brazil), Little World Festival (France), Altitude Festival (France), Queenscliff Music Festival, Portarlington Celtic Festival, Yackandandah Folk Festival, St Albans Folk Festival, Nannup Music festival, Fairbridge Music festival, Nanga Music festival and Maleny Music Festival.

“An album that came out of no where and just blew me away! From start to finish each song tells its own story. Already one of my albums of 2018.” Jimmy Stafford, Highland Radio

“You can hear every mile traveled by Gallie on his adventurous journey to making The Occoquan River... it is a beautiful piece of work, that takes you on Gallie's literary journey and wraps you in the emotional truth of his music.” Fiachna O'Braonain, Hothouse Flowers and RTE Radio 1’s Late Date “One of the outstanding releases this year....

’The Occoquan River’ is brilliant.” Paul Gough, The Inside Sleeve, ABC Radio National.
