James Grim - Woodcutters (SOLD OUT)

  • Wesley Anne 250 High Street Northcote Hill , VIC, 3070 Australia (map)

Second Show Announced 6th November

A rare, intimate showcase of dark country songs from James Grim

After the final tour of Brothers Grim and the Blue Murders in 2016, firebrand frontman, James Grim, decided enough was enough. He pulled the pin on the band – and the lifestyle – that was killing him.

He took his hard-earned life lessons and experiences to his friend, award-winning country music songwriter Dan Waters, and began crafting new songs, cut from his signature raw lyrical honesty.

What emerged from those sessions became the template for a suite of dark country ballads that explore the awkward moments that lie within, and between, flawed humans. This collection of songs continued – and continues – to grow, as Grim further deepens his authenticity and
songwriting prowess with each new songwriting collaboration.

This collection of songs is Woodcutters.

For the most part, the Woodcutters collection has remained largely unheard. Infamous live shows are rare, but when they do occur, showcase a rotating cast of wonderful musicians, with no two shows the same.  Melbourne fans have the chance to experience Woodcutters for one intimate matinee show on Sunday 30 October at Wesley Anne in Northcote.

This event will feature a full band assembled by Grim, built around piano/composer/arranger Jamie
Messenger and including Dave Oxley (bass), Rob jones (guitar/vocals), Dan Levitan (drums), Jason Bunn (viola) and Carolyn Gannell (cello).

After this show, James Grim will most likely disappear again for another year or two.
