FJ Steele Single Launch

  • Wesley Anne 250 High Street Northcote Hill , VIC, 3070 Australia (map)

FJ Steele is a Melbourne-based folk rock artist who blends fingerstyle and raucous guitar around a rich voice depicting stories of love, pain and exploration. Influenced by the likes of Glen Hansard, Liz Stringer and Wallis Bird, FJ Steele delivers songs colourful with lyrical imagery, driven by a thumping guitar beat in deep, rich open string tunings.

Shifting from slow-growing ballads, to high octane folk rock grooves, FJ Steele delivers soaring new-age folk songs that fill a deceptive amount of space, each with an undeniable edge that leaves audiences hanging on to every twist and turn. Having performed at many of Australia's folk festivals, both in her own project and performing with other artists, FJ Steele will be joined by her 5 piece band to launch her single 'Hands To Yourself' at the Wesley Anne on Friday 17th June.

Hands To Yourself is a defiant retaliation to an incident of being inappropriately touched by a trusted friend. A catharsis; a release of years of pent up anxiety and self-blame, an anthem for all those who have had their trust misused, abused and discarded in moments of unwanted attention.
