Hovering like mist over a glassy moonlit lake, Ben Mastwyk & The Energy rise from dusty streets of Melbourne’s inner north with their unique brand of cosmic-cult-country. Sydney power-priestess Katie Brianna and rising starlet Katie May join forces with Collingwood’s cosmic cowboy Ben Mastwyk to deliver their harmony-laden hillbilly sermons.
Over a chilly weekend huddled in a Ballarat hideaway dubbed The Miner’s Loft, the trio assembled a makeshift studio by the open fire and proceeded to explore the alchemy of their guitars, analog synthesisers and mesmerising three-part harmonies. They emerged with a triptych of haunting songs, imbued with their collective DNA and delicately tainted with the moody atmosphere of old cabin.
Join them as they celebrate the release of The Minor’s Loft Sessions in the suitable warm surrounds of the Wesley Anne band room on Sat Dec 14 with fellow country troubadours The Distant South.
The Distant South offer a new take on the alt-country genre, weaving confessional tales into melody and harmony-soaked tunes, brought to life with a menagerie of stringed instruments…and drums! The Distant South throw the sounds of Country, Folk, Blues and Soul into the fiery pit of angst and heartache to deliver captivating performances of songs from their book of life.
