Twin sister singer songwriters Alanna and Alicia are excited to release their fifth album, Heart Song Listen, north side at the Wesley Anne.
Festival favourites, Alanna and Alicia share a rich, intuitive vocal blend, creating magical close sibling harmonies. Their songwriting, equal parts heart and humour, sparkles with an original intimate voice.
After a global pandemic, six Melbourne lockdowns, broken bones, house moves, a Creative Victoria Music Works grant, and the birth of Alicia and Ben’s beautiful baby Elodie, they have finally finished their much anticipated album!
On the new album Alanna and Alicia explore a wide range of personal and global issues, including their grandmother’s battle with dementia, the emotional experience of miscarriage, life in lockdown, the effects of global warming and sea level rise, contrasting with playful, upbeat tune, The Teetotaller, vibrant travel song, Everybody Dances in New Orleans and the whimsical title waltz, Heart Song Listen. In one set, Alanna and Alicia can make you laugh or shed a tear.
The album was recorded and produced at Rolling Stock Recording Rooms in Collingwood, Melbourne with the brilliant Myles Mumford.
For the Wesley Anne launch Alanna and Alicia will be accompanied by their beautiful band, featuring Damien Neil, guitar, Silas Palmer, piano and violin and Sarah Busuttil, violin and snare.
Opening the night will be the captivating duo, Valley Road.
