Join Central Rain (Luke Thomas, together with James Fleming, Jess Elwood, Rob Muiños and Luke's bandmate in The Ronson Hangup, Erica Menting) on the eve of Melbourne's AFL Grand Final public holiday for the launch of their brand new album Paint Over Paint. Also making a name for himself and supporting on the night will be good pal singer/songwriter Kyle Brew with his new full band line-up in tow.
Central Rain is the ongoing project for Melbourne-based, Gold Coast/Brisbane expat singer/songwriter Luke Thomas. Luke has been a go-to guy in Melbourne since relocating with Brisbane band Lavish in the '90s. He is probably best known for his work with The Pictures but also released a couple of albums with his own band Deserters, as well as taking on bass duties with The Ronson Hangup alongside The Anyones' Steve Pinkerton and The Church/Paul Kelly/RocKwiz/Even guitarist Ashley Naylor. For the last ten or so years Luke has been working under the Central Rain banner, with several well-received releases under his belt. On July 26th he released the new album Paint Over Paint, together with the gorgeous new single "If You Ever Fall". The album is a stunning collection of intimate, stripped-down classic pop songwriting, with instrumental assistance from keyboard player Olaf Scott (Teskey Brothers), drummer Jess Ellwood (Alex Lahey), and the occasional contribution from Ashley Naylor on guitar.
With Paint Over Paint, Luke has crafted a classic singer-songwriter collection, a record so raw it’s as if the singer is perched on a barstool next to you, pouring out his life story.
Chances are you’ll see yourself in at least one of the songs.
Paint Over Paint limited edition 12” vinyl will be available on the night.
This promises to be a cracking evening, don’t miss out!
