The Robbie Melville Trio is the latest project from the guitarist and winner of the Instrumental Category of the 2018 International Song Competition. Joined by bassist Tamara Murphy and drummer Maddison Carter, the trio explore the meeting point between folk melody, jazz harmony and textural improvisation through the environment of Melville’s distinctive compositions.
The music, often of a delicate, ethereal and intimate nature, offers a rich, emotive journey, highlighting the deep musicianship and regard between the players. There’s plenty of intrigue, but always room to breathe.
