Join Ava and Jack for some standards, blues, folk and original compositions in the front bar of the Wesley Anne. Reimagining beloved songs in a duo setting, playing authentically and presently, Jack Marken and Ava McDermott create emotive and exciting improvised music! 

Jack and Ava both perform regularly at some of Melbourne’s most prominent jazz venues such as Paris Cat, The Brunswick Green and the Jazzlab, performing and working alongside leading Australian jazz and classical musicians such as James Sherlock, Andrea Keller, Gian Slater, Dermott Tutty, Blakely McLean-Davies and Sandy Evans. 

Jack Marken is a jazz guitarist based in Melbourne, Australia. Currently working to complete his Bachelor of Music, Jack is embarking on multiple ongoing projects outside of his studies, performing as both a sideman and a band leader for Jazz, RnB, Folk and contemporary genres.

Ava McDermott is a vocalist from Naarm (Melbourne). Proficient in both classical and jazz styles, Ava is a versatile musician, drawing from a range of musical traditions and techniques with a significant focus on improvisation. Ava has a wide scope of performance experience ranging, including at the Melbourne Recital Centre and on 3MBS Live Radio.
